In present research, dissimilar aluminum AA7075 and AA5083 alloys welded while the joint of them reinforced by Al2O3 nano particles. With respect to weak traditional fusion weld ability of AA7075 alloy, friction stir welding (FSW) was a good choice that used in this research. Pin profile of welding tool was Straight Square and it was used to join 5 mm thick sheets. Microstructure analysis of nanocomposite joint was carried out by optical microscope (OM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) in order to identify different zones, weld nugget zone (WNZ), thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) and heat affected zone (HAZ). Also the tensile strength was evaluated. Applied rotational speed for reinforced weld, was 800 rpm and the traverse speed, was 50 mm/min. After adding nano particles, the maximum tensile strength became 256 MPa that was lower than that found for the joint without particles, the main reason for the strength reduction seems to be because of aggregation of particles. |
