Abstract: |
One of the most important methods to synthesize the gold nanoparticles is based on reduction of a gold precursor. In this paper, a typical procedure has been developed by employing a water solution containing: a chelating agent (poly vinyl pirolidone, PVP), a reducing agent (Glucose) and adequate amount of NaOH (for pH adjustment). Then, an industrial tile decoration process was simulated at the laboratory scale and firing in a roller kiln at maximum temperature of 1040 ºC for 33 min. transparent glaze was used as the medium. In order to properly compare the results, the suspensions were diluted and applied, while taking care that each tile did receive the same amount of pigment. Finally, XRD, UV- Vis, TEM and CIE- Lab were employed to characterize the obtained gold nanoparticles. Nano pigments synthesized are suitable for application as ceramic inks for digital decoration. A set of magenta colors can be obtained in transparent glaze. In compare to commercial products, the good quality of synthesized samples can be noted. |
