Abstract: |
Ordered ferromagnetic–paramagnetic Ni1-xMnx nanowire arrays were successfully fabricated by alternating current (AC) electrodeposition into nanoporous alumina templates (AAO). The AAO membrane was fabricated with two-step anodizing method. It was found that there was an optimum barrier thickness to obtain a successful electrodeposition in pores of AAO. The thickness of barrier layer can be modified by further electrochemical process after completing the anodizing steps. The Ni-Mn alloy was deposited into AAO membrane in a simple sulfate bath. The effect of bath composition on manganese content of electrodeposited nanowires was explored. It was found that the magnetic properties of nanowires were apparently increased. It was also observed that the magnetic parameters such as coercivity and saturation magnetization were decreased by increasing the amount of manganese. |
