Abstract: |
In this study, TaN-Ag nanocomposite thin films were deposited by a cylindrical reactive D.C. co-sputtering system on stainless steel (type 316) from a Ta and Ag target. In next step, all the samples were annealed at a constant temperature of 350ºC for 3, 5 and 7 minutes. The crystalline structure, topography and morphology of the films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. Also, self cleaning characteristic and hydrophilic properties were studied using contact angle tests. In spite of previous reports, contact angle of samples didn't decrease after introducing Ag nanoparticles. Finally, antibacterial test was performed using E.coli bacteria, after four months which the samples were kept in unsterile plates. The number of colonies was decreased up to 50%, after six hours. The results showed that the average size of nanoparticles were less than 100 nm and The self cleaning characteristic of the TaN-Ag nanocomposite thin films was modified by improving the contact angle. The modification of the contact angle is because of increasing the roughness. On the other hand, increasing the contact angle, decreases bacterial adhesion. |
