Abstract: |
In this study interpenetrating polymer network hydrogel of Poly acrylamide/Gelatin (PAA/GE) was prepared using ammonium persulfate as an initiator and methylenebisacrylamide as crosslink agent at 70◦C. the influence of IPN formation on the special features of pure GE and pure PAA was investigated and characterized. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) studies showed the difference in the state of the pure form of each of them and IPN form. The incorporating of PAA significantly improved the equilibrium swelling ratio of modified hydrogels when comparing with a normal GE film. The IPN hydrogels exhibited improved mechanical characteristics, and the level of improvement depended on the PAA content. |
