In the present work, aluminum was deposited by electrochemical deposition via room temperature ionic liquid based electrolyte (RTIL). Aluminum coating was deposited potentiostatically on copper substrates under 1V at 600 ◦C containing 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and aluminum chloride electrolyte with molar ratio of 1:2. The structure and morphology of deposited coating was evaluated by optical microscopy (OM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). In order to fabricate alumina template, the prepared aluminum coating was exposed to anodic oxidation process under constant current density of 10mA/cm2 and temperature of 5◦C. FESEM results showed that micro/nano porous hexagonal structures were formed with pore sizes in the range of 150 to 500 nm. |
