Abstract: |
Natural biopolymer, Sodium Alginate (SA), has been electrospun from aqueous solution by blending with a non-toxic, biocompatible and synthetic polymer Poly vinyl alcohol (PVA). We have worked on solution with constant total polymer concentration. The effect of total solution concentration was studied by the aid of scanning electron microscopy to obtain uniform and beadāfree nanofibers. We could electrospun successfully the solution containing PVA/SA with blend mass ratio of 90/10 at 16.5 %wt total polymer concentration. The results indicate the potential use of SA based composite nanofiber with higher SA final ratio in tissue engineering application such as wound dressing. |
