Abstract: |
This study aimed to investigate the effect of glass fiber (GF) on the mechanical and thermal characteristic of the epoxy containing organo modified nanoclay (closite30B). At first epoxy/clay nanocomposites were prepared using mechanical mixer followed by sonication, then hand lay-up procedures were adopted for preparing the epoxy/glass fiber /clay nanocomposites. The dispersion of nanoclay in the epoxy resin was inspected using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal stability of nanocomposites are examined applying thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) . Mechanical properties of specimens are checked out utilizing tensile test. The experimental data exhibit significant increase, both in thermal resistant and tensile strength of epoxy /glass fiber /clay nanocomposites in comparison with epoxy/clay nanocomposite. |
